Sažetak
During the 2nd century AD, in the several pottery centres of the Danubian provinces local potters started to produce relief ornamented terra sigillata, imitating shapes and designs of the products imported from the Gallia and Germania. The best known is workshop of Pacatus in Aquincum (Budapest, Hungary), situated due to terra sigillata moulds found in that city. Interesting, almost no products of sigillata made in those moulds were found in Budapest. Majority of finds were, on the other hand, found in the southern part of Pannonia, on the territories of colonies Mursa (Osijek) and Cibalae (Vinkovci), in the present Eastern Croatia. This fact can be interpreted in two different ways. One, there was an outpost of Pacatus workshop in southern part of Pannonia, so the finds from Croatia were mostly locally produced. Second possibility is that the majority of Aquincum production was exported to the southern part of the province. High oscillations of the quality of production are characteristic for ware. On the basis of data obtained from the macroscopic, microscopic and chemical analysis this paper will try to establish the relationships between the differences fabric, quality of slip and typology of decoration. Special emphasis will be given in defining possible differences in technology of production, so that on the basis of difference in firing of found pieces products of different outposts of the Pacatus workshops could be defined.
