Sažetak
High-alloyed tool steels are usually heat treated by hardening and low tempering. In addition to this conventional heat treatment, deep cryogenic treatment can be applied to this group of tool steels to obtain improved properties in service. In this study, the influence of deep cryogenic treatment on the properties of X155CrVMo12-1 steel (AISI D2) has been investigated. Samples to be tested were exposed to different austenitization temperatures (1020 and 1080oC), were quenched with and without deep cryogenic treatment, and tempered at two temperatures (190 and 525oC). To evaluate the effect of deep cryogenic treatment on the samples, the tests included hardness tests, tempering resistance tests, dilatometric tests, and abrasive wear tests. Although test results showed differences in the hardness of tested samples, depending on the applied combination of heat treatment parameters, the application of deep cryogenic treatment did not result in significant differences in resistance to abrasive wear.
