Sažetak
In this study, both protrusive and retrusive movements od the jaw joint, wich represent one of its basic functions, were recorded and measured. The study was conducted by means of electronic axiography method. The total sample included 94 subjects divided into 2 groups. The first group comprised 50 subjects who had signs and symptoms of the dysfunction of the stomatognathic system. The second, asympthomatic group comprised 44 subjects. All subjects were recorded by the Gamma Cadiax system, wich consists of a conventional SAM axiograph, an electronic device for drawing curves, diagnostic computer software, and a personal computer. The achieved results saved in computer were analyzed and statisticaly processed. In the group of sympthomatic subjects, the maximal value of the lenght of the rigzt jaw joint protrusive paths amounted to 4.73 to 15.27 mm (mean value 10.06 mm), and in the group of asympthomatic subjects this value was from 5.12 to 15.08 mm (mean value 10.31 mm). The corresponding values for the left jaw joint amounted to 5.01 to 15.94 mm (mean value 11.19 mm) in the sympthomatic subjects, and in the asympthomatic subjects from 5.31 to 15.21 mm (mean value 10.78 mm). The aim of the statistical analysis was to determine if there was a significant difference in the maximal lenght of protrusive and retrusive mandibular path in the sympthomatic and asympthomatic subjects, as well as differences between male and female subjects. The results of 2-factor analysis of variance show that there is no statistically important difference in the lenght of protrusive and retrusive paths between subjects with signs and symptoms of craniomandibular disorders and asympthomatic subjects. There is also no statistically important difference between male and female subjects. We can also onclude that the interaction of these factors show no statistically significant difference.
