Sažetak
The author examines a genesis of the Statute of Dubrovnik of 1272, its compilation and general structure. The relationship between a couple of preserved medieval manuscripts is explained in terms of their content and function. The statutory law is followed in its transformation until 1808, with the conclusion that the Statute slowly acquired a predominantly political value and became a symbol of extreme importance for the identity of the Ragusan state.
