Sažetak
In the last few years a number of researchers pointed out that the seriousness of mood disorders among school children is still underestimated when compared to the seriousness of the same illness during adolescence and adulthood. In spite of that, many children are not yet diagnosed and treated. Without no treatment, mood disorders can lead to severe psychiatric problems in the future adults who felt depression during childhood (Carollo et al., 2004 ; Carretti, Dazzi, Rossi, 2009 ; Lo Piccolo, 2005 ; Muratori 2008 ; Muratori & Apicella, 2008 ; Schuchter et al, 1997). The aim of this work is twofold: firstly, to describe the main symptoms of this illness, helping teachers of primary school to distinguish and recognise them ; secondly, to underline the significance of collaboration between teachers and school psychologists, supporting together children to cope with depression.
