Sažetak
Syntagm Western Balkans has been entered into the political discourse during the European Union summit in Zgreb 2000 fo rthe territories of the former SFRJ, minus Slovenia plus Albania, i.e. Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the then FR Yugoslavija(included Montenegri and Kosovo atthat time), Macedonia and Albania. Psychological desire to move as far away from the traditional notion of Balkans (mostly connected with negative connotations) lead to a sort of compromise between the international community (NATO, USA, EU)and Balkans countries .
