Sažetak
This paper deals with service learning experience in social work education in Croatia. The goal of the paper is to demonstrate a case-study of the student of social work who participated in service learning program based on developing counseling competences and communication skills. The internship was organized in Autonomous Women House in Zagreb, a Non-governmental organization focused on providing different services for the women victims of domestic violence. The fieldwork activities started with systematic preparations and education about both counseling and communication specifics in work with women victims of violence. Also, the student actively participated in many activities of this NGO especially in counseling processes with clients and different assistances in purpose to reach clients needs. After the fieldwork period the student continued with engagement in the AWHZ as a volunteer and continued her education in this area in Croatia and abroad. Also, based on service learning experience she was motivated to develop some ideas for implementing e-learning approach in education for women victims of domestic violence. Benefits of service learning as well as some possibilities of e-learning in social work education and practice are discussed.
