Sažetak
Exports represent the most popular way to internationalize, especially for the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Recent theoretical advances suggest that international business researchers should acknowledge the institution-based perspective because one of the important tasks of public sector is to encourage the exporting activity of private sector. Therefore, many nations implement export-oriented policies such as export promotion (EP) programs. Unlike the mainstream literature, this paper takes policy-based approach with a goal of exploring the properties of the resource allocation behind specific Croatian financial aid-related EP program. The study uses exploratory research design and relies on secondary data obtained from multiple sources. In the empirical part, ANOVA and regression analyses indicate that exporters with larger resource capacities receive significantly higher EP funding which questions the criteria underlying the EP funding allocation. Based on the findings, this study offers implications and directions for further research within the field.
