Sažetak
Comprehensive study of possible anthropogenic and environmental change influence on Plivice Lakes area has been performed on the recent lake sediments from four lakes: two big lakes, Kozjak (K1) and Prošće (PR), and two small lakes, Gradinsko (GR) and Kaluđerovac (KA). Additionally, sediment was analysed at the confluence of the Rječica stream to the Lake Kozjak (K2), since this location is characterized by the most intensive plant growth. Cores of top 40 cm of sediment were analysed for isotopes 210Pb, 137Cs, 14C, 13C/12C and 18O/16O. The top 40 cm of sediments, dated by 210Pb and 137Cs, encompass time span of 100 to 150 years, with higher sedimentation rate in small lakes. Geochemical analyses of mineralogical and trace element composition were also performed. Lake sediments consist mostly of calcite (70-85% in big lakes, 90-95% in small lakes) with very small amount of dolomite, quartz, and low fraction of organic matter (OM) 2-8%. An exception is the core K2 from the Rječica confluence (calcite ~40%, OM ~30%) indicating input of terrestrial material. Calcite share increases and OM share decreases downstream from the first lake Prošće. Both calcite and organic matter are mainly authigenic (>90%), which is demonstrated by the δ13C analyses of the sediments.
