Sažetak
The main purpose of this text is to draw attention to the opus of Marko Marulić, slightly older contemporary of Erasmus and an important and influential humanist, but whose work and influence – due to the lack of texts in languages other than Croatian – pass almost unnoticed in contemporary academic discussions. For this reason I will not enter into detailed analyses of some problematic passages, but rather offer an overview of the status quaestionis of the connection between Erasmus and Marko Marulić, as well as of some problems in connecting these two thinkers. At the end I venture a thesis which to my best knowledge has not been proposed or developed so far – namely that Erasmus’ doctrine of peace might have been influenced by Marulić’s writings on the same topic.
