Sažetak
In order to determine the thermodynamical interactions between the metal surface of automotive engine and motor oil, in this work, the influence of the composition and concentration of most commonly used polymeric additives of motor oil on contact angle and wettability were investigated. Three different solid surfaces were used: carbon steel, stainless steel - inox and glass. Polymer additives based on styrene and n- alkyl methacrylates (d-PSAMA) and pure methacrylate-based additives (d-PAMA) were synthesized in the mineral base oil SN-150 with changeable content of N, N - dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEM). Such prepared 50 wt. % polymer solutions were diluted at 1, 5 and 10 wt. % and wettability of solid surfaces were determined by measuring the contact angle. Wettability of all monomers present in the initial reaction mixtures was also examined. With a view to better understanding and description of molecular interactions, using the suitable software (Gaussian), electron density of individual monomers and polymer segments were calculated and illustrated by isosurfaces
