Sažetak
Present work describes results of investigation of crack initiation and propagation in V-notch Charpy specimens under impact loading. A new experimental technique of investigation of crack initiation and propagation was developed. Methodology of determining the moment of crack initiation after tests on the instrumented drop-weight impact testing machine was developed and approved. Strain gage located on specimen surface close to the notch tip allows to receive deformation curve in time. This data was compared with force-time curve, obtained from impact tests. Analysis of the results of this comparison allows to determine the moment of crack initiation on the force-time curve. Investigations of crack propagation in two orthogonal directions were carried out.
