Sažetak
Our research groups activities and expertise are releated to kinetics of the solid state reactions, sol-gel synthesis, microstructure and properties of ceramic and glass ceramic materials, organic-inorganic hybrids and nanocomposites. Until now, we have modified montmorillonite by polyester hydrochlorides and quaternary polyesters by cation exchange. Nanocomposites based on a commercial epoxy resin and organically modified montmorillonites with poly(oxypropylene) diamine (Jeffamine D400) and octadecylamine were prepared and characterized. New organic-inorganic hybrid materials were prepared by the sol-gel process from methyl methacrylate and an organically modified silicon alkoxyde, 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GLYMO). Poly(oxypropylene)diamine was used as an epoxy opening agent, as basic catalyst for GLYMO condensation and as poly(methyl methacrylate) crosslinking agent. Furthermore, the hybrid materials were prepared from diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), with modified silicon alkoxide with a reactive epoxy group, 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GLYMO) as an inorganic precursor, and a poly(oxypropylene)diamine Jeffamine D230 as a curing agent for epoxy. Ca-Al hydroxide with layered double hydroxide-like structure modified by the incorporation of benzoate anions was prepared (LDH-B). Nanocomposites based on an epoxy resin and LDH-B were prepared by in situ polymerisation. Exfoliated polystyrene nanocomposites have been synthesized by in situ bulk multistep polymerization of polystyrene (PS) in the presence of the filler, LDH-B. Also, Intercalated poly(styrene-co-methyl methacrylate)/layered double hydroxide nanocomposites have been synthesized by the in situ bulk multistep polymerization of styrene and methyl methacrylate in the presence of the LDH-B. Functionalization of titanate nanotubes with 3-(aminopropyl)tri-ethoxysilane (APTES), was performed in two different ways ; with and without prehydrolization of APTES in ethanol. Also, surface functionalizations of titanate nanoribbons (TiNR) with four different silane coupling agents: APTES, triethoxyoctylsilane, GLYMO and 3-aminopropylmethyldiethoxysilane was performed in two different ways ; with and without prehydrolization of APTES in ethanol. Functionalized TiNR were used for preparation of epoxy based nanocomposites and the properties were compared to pure epoxy resin. Methods used for characterization were: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), simultaneous DSC-TGA analysis, evolved gas analysis (EGA) dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with electron dispersive X-ray spectrometry mapping (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), contact angle and mechanical testing machine (Zwick).
