Sažetak
Alzheimer's disease is characterized clinically by cognitive deficits and histologically by a selective degeneration of neurons originating in the nucleus basalis of Maynert (NBM). The purpose of this study was to explore: 1. the influence of bilateral electrolytic lesions of NBM equivalent in rats on acquisition, and 2. if arecoline, THA, galantamine and physostigmine may influence acquisition in lesioned rats. NBM lesions significantly impaired the passive avoidance acquisition related to the control group. Acquisition was significantly improved in arecoline-treated rats, while AChE inhibitors didn't influence it significantly in experimental conditions used.
