Sažetak
Purpose - The main objective of this research is to investigate the link between innovation management and controlling in the environment of sustainability. The question of interest is whether controlling is involved in the innovation management process and how to measure the effectiveness of innovation process using controlling as analytical and informative function of the company. Design/Methodology/Approach - In order to develop conceptual model of the relationship between innovation management and controlling, firstly, appropriate theoretical background is explored. Secondly, the sample of Croatian large and medium enterprises is selected according to controlling function and by interview method the involvement of controlling in innovation process is explored. Therefore, we expect lack of controlling involvement in the process of innovation management. Findings . The results of the research confirm insufficiently developed connections between controlling and innovation management sustainability. Proposed conceptual model provides a framework for further elaboration of individual elements of controlling connections in all stages of the innovation management process. Research limitations/implications - The study provides a starting point for further research on sustainability controlling and innovation process management. Originality/value . This paper makes an important contribution to the knowledge of innovation management and controlling in the developing countries like Croatia, which slowly accept the concept of sustainable performance and are expected to develop innovation management and involve controlling as a very important managerial function. In addition, a similar study hasn't been conducted in Croatia nor the EU.
