Sažetak
The Department of Informatics offers several undergraduate and graduate educational programs in informatics and computing. Within these programs, several database courses are held. At the undergraduate program, Introduction to databases and Databases courses are held, while course Selected Topics in Databases is held in graduate studies of Business Informatics and Information and Communication Systems. In the course Introduction to Databases, students learn basic definitions and concepts of databases, entity-relationship model, relational model and relational algebra, normalization and denormalization and also become familiar with the basics of SQL programming language. In the Databases course, using Clarion programming tool, students learn how to build standalone application and database based on the relational and entity- relationship data model. Also, they learn more about database security and innovations in the area of databases. Finally, in the course Selected Topics in Databases, students upgrade and expand previously acquired knowledge of SQL programming language, with complex SQL*Plus report generating and PL/SQL procedural extension language. They also become familiar with the concept of business intelligence and ERP systems, they learn the basics of dimensional modeling and data warehousing and work with several OLAP tools. These educational levels in teaching database courses and topics, will be presented in the paper.
