Sažetak
Sustainable development requests much from complete economic and general social system. Environmental protection and economic development are key problems nowadays. By that one particularly should stress external effects (diseconomies) of economic system, and thus of transport system too, with aim and need for their internalization. Awareness of a growing conflict between development and environmental protection is specially expressed in Mediterranean region, where the transport system represents a “ circulatory system” of entire economic and social system. Therefore, this considers some environmental problems caused by transport, with special Mediterranean review.
