Sažetak
In view of the desired societal transformations in Croatia, namely a higher degree of democracy, the Croatia`s high students` predispozitions were examined. The hypotesis was that the determined level of their intercultural predispozitions would indicate the necessary interventions into the contents and methods of teaching in Croatia`s schools. Data were obtained by means of a qustionnaire. For the measurement of the degree of acceptance of selected European values the specially constructed Likert`s type scales were applied, and for the measurement of the social distance the Bogardus social distance scales were used. The statistical methods included percentages, X- square tests, and factor analysis. The interpreted results indicate that overall high degree of acceptance of European values, albeit this may be only so on the cognitive level. The social distance picture showed dichotomy, as in each category of relations it varied from acceptance to total unacceptance.
The main conclusion was that there is a definite need for introduction of new contents into educational corpus with clearly stated notions of interculturalism involving civic education.
