Sažetak
Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the oral mucosa, and its etiology and pathogenesis are not definitely established. Many local and systemic factors are proposed in exacerbation of OLP. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of electrical potential in OLP exacerbation. The study included 27 OLP patients and 27 healthy subjects. OLP patients were divided in two subgroups: those with erosive type of OLP (n=11) and those without erosive type of OLP (including papular, reticular and plaque types) (n=16). Also, subjects needed to have at least two different alloys in mouth in order to be included. Electrical potential was measured with PC controlled milivoltmeter. Milivoltmeter software was equipped with algorithms for digital signal processing and filtering. Data entry and statistical analysis were performed using SPSS 10.0.5. Mean value of electrical potential in erosive OLP group was130.1851.91mV, in non-erosive OLP group 129.0070.81mV and in control group 143.1886.21mV. ANOVA and LSD pos hoc tests showed that there were no statistically significant differences between groups in electrical potentials (F=0.224 ; p=0.79). Unfortunately, our preliminary study showed that electrical potential did not play a role in OLP exacerbation
