Sažetak
Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek, since its foundation in 1960, conducts teaching process in the field of agricultural sciences, mainly in animal husbandry and plant production. New and diversified study structure, aligned with the Bologna Process, has been introduced in 2005. It comprises following study programmes: five undegraduate, 13 graduate, five professional, as well as postgraduate specialist and doctoral study. Wildlife traditionally refers to non-domesticated vertebrates, but has come to broadly reference to all wild plants and animals. Teaching, research and professional activites related to wildlife are primary under the competence of Department of Wildlife, Fishery and Beekeeping, which was established in 2008. Several mandatory and selective courses, listed in the graduate study programme Hunting and Beekeeping, are available for the student. Beside teaching topics, such as: biology of wild animals, flora and habitat types, hunting management, each year a one-day field excursion is organized for the students. The surrounding of the Faculty is located in the Croatian Danube region, which is characterized with exceptional biodiversity. During the field excursion, students are usually guided in the Nature Park “Kopački rit” and hunting ground situated nearby. There, they can concretize in practise the facts and knowledge received on the lectures. Especially important is getting the live experience, and students can see many of wild animals: red deer, roe deer, wild boar, rabbit or pheasant in their natural habitats, as well as some of the rare or endangered species. Experiences from the learning about wildlife will be presented
