Sažetak
The authors contemplate the concepts of memory and urban development on a theoretical level as well as on an empirical level by using the local context of Dubrovnik as a laboratory for exploring the role of memory in culturally sustainable development. The aim is to associate the concept of memory and the concept of town, by researching what is the role of memory in socially and culturally sustainable development of towns. Dubrovnik has imposed as a perfect example as it connects concepts of memory, culture and sustainable development in a unique way. The unique urban landscape of Dubrovnik is a part of the collective memory that is important for shaping cultural and social identity and at the same time it has universal significance that is recognizable for visitors and tourists.
