Sažetak
Glass beam which is the subject of this research is the main load bearing element of the new entrance canopy of hotel Dubrovnik located in the centre of Zagreb. The structure of the canopy is entirely made of laminated glass which refers to two or more glass panes bonded together with an elastomeric interlayer such as polyvynil butyral (PYB) to improve the post-breakage characteristics of the glass. This paper presents experimental testing of a laminated glass beam and determination of elasticity modulus and bending tensile strength. Based on experimental results an evaluation of the bearing capacity of the glass beam is offered in the conclusion.
