Sažetak
The rotors of the high speed rotating turbomachines nowadays are most usually supported by the radial journal bearings with cyllindrical bores and non-circular cross sections. The theory of their models is based on the Reynolds equation. Various methods (the finite difference method (FDM), the finite elements method (FEM) and the method using infinite series function) are developed for solving of the Reynolds equation. The solvers of the finite difference method are not sufficiently examined and described in technical literature. In the mathematical literature, beside the most widespread Gauss-Seidels method, other methods are cited, like the highly convergent iterative methods, to which the SOR and ADI methods belong. These highly convergent iterative methods essentially accelerate the solving velocity of the Reynolds equation and ensure the accuracy of the obtained solutions. They are particularly convenient at the high levels of discretisations, and by solving the problems like the stiffnesses nad dampings of oil-film assesment, as well as the journal stability.
