Sažetak
The effects of 10, 100, 500 and 1000 ppb 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) on the quality attributes of strawberry cv. ꞌAlbaꞌ stored five days at 0° C was examined. 1-MCP applied at concentration of 100 ppb and above significantly affected fruit color (increased ꞌaꞌ value, Chroma and Hue angle and decreased ꞌbꞌ value) and decreased weight loss. TA remained unaffected by 1-MCP treatment and SSC was increased in fruit treated with 10 ppb and decreased after treatment with 500 and 1000 ppb. The differences in the sensory attributes were noticeable by female panelists even in fruit exposed to 10 ppb of 1-MCP. Male panelists noticed the difference in the sensory profile only at fruit treated with and higher concentration. No decay was noticed in this study. It was concluded that 1-MCP, even if applied in small concentration, might be beneficial tool for improving postharvest behavior of strawberry.
