Sažetak
This paper proposes a theoretical framework for the establishment of digital library for scientific research data in the context of new scholarly information infrastructure in emerging. It also presents a research in which the process of text encoding using TEI is used for creating research data under the proposed theoretical framework. The theoretical framework for a digital library for scientific research data is based on identifying the specific needs of scientists in scientific research, resolving the mentioned specific needs through standardized methods and tools, and transformation of resolved specific needs of scientists in a form of scientific research data. The research part of the paper, based on the specific needs of seven participants (scientists who are engaged in studying Croatian old books), examined the usefulness and effectiveness of text encoding process of Croatian old books using TEI as provider of scientific research data in the humanities. Research on the usefulness and effectiveness of the text encoding using the TEI on Croatian old books has shown that TEI, on the one hand, is extremely useful, but on the other is not as much cost-effective. The study, among other things, pointed the need for an expert in text encoding as an assistant for text encoding procedure within a scientific research.
