Sažetak
In the paper the author analyses the issue of the role and position of Vinkovci in the Croatian Military Border (the Vojna krajina). Significant phases of development of the Military Border are presented from its creation in the first half of the 18th century until it was abolished in the second half of the 19th century. The role of the town of Vinkovici and its citizens during the revolutionary events in 1948 and 1849 is especially emphasized.
