Sažetak
Canine neoplasms of hair origin in the Republic of Croatia have a low incidence. In this research 70 skin tumors from the period of 1.1.2009 to 30.11.2012 were analyzed and classified into one of 5 categories of tumors (IKA, pilomatricoma, trichoblastoma, trichoepithelioma or trichofolliculoma). From a total of 617 canine skin neoplasms diagnosed in the Department of Veterinary Pathology during the period of 4 years, only 11, 35% were of hair origin. Of all neoplasms of hair origin, only 7, 14% were characterized as malignant. The average age of dogs who suffer from neoplasms of hair origin is 6, 13 years. Mixed breed dogs suffer more frequently from neoplasms of hair origin than pure breed dogs. Common places of appearance were head, back and limbs. Neoplasms were often causing an inflammatory response. Gender and breed predisposition wasn’t observed due to the small number of samples. Due to the low incidence of tumors in dogs, a longer period of investigation is needed in order to have a better understanding of those neoplasms.
