Sažetak
The project “Recording of data and economy of groundwater resources of Croatia” (EGPV) integrates organisation of data, information and knowledge on the Croatian groundwater into the Hydrogeological Information System (HGIS), the system that meets the criteria set up for the Geographical Information System and forms one of its levels. The project focuses on both the setting up of the hydrogeological database and on interpretation of the data. The Hydrogeological Information System structure has been subdivided into the state, regional and local level. On the state level the entire Croatian territory is divided into the hydrogeological systems which have been ranked according to their groundwater resources, water quality, and the possible quality and quantity protection. So defined and ranked hydrogeological systems represent the basis for the water management program, which should provide for the strategic reserves of the groundwater for the future.
