Sažetak
There are numerous problems in the transition of the Croatian economy, but the central problem is low enterprise efficiency, as it is on the whole so it is with tourism. The basic goal of the Croatian economic policy, has to be in the improvement of enterprise efficiency. The war in Croatia did not cause but rather intensified the crisis of Croatian tourism already started at the end of the eighties, and which was the result of the Croatian tourist supply not being adapted to the demand of the international tourist market. For problem solving within the hotel industry, it is essential to use economic measures in order to stimulate the development and competitive improvement of the hotel industry on the international market. Also, in hotel enterprises there is a need to develop new marketing concepts using strategic marketing which would be based on improving service and product quality.
