Sažetak
The increase of their share in the structure of sea transported cargo, and waste that ends up in the sea, as well as developing of common awareness about the dangers threatening our environment by all kinds of industrial pollution, have led to great changes. This has also resulted in a number of requirements that had to be fulfilled by the ports and by the ships. The specialization of terminals by equipping them with modern and specialized equipment and the forming of completely different technological process of cargo handling attempt to realize a higher level of operating safety and to achieve the best possible economic results. The pollution control management as a comparatively recent science offers basic guidelines for the behavior of those whose activities can influence the reduction and control of releasing the harmful substances into the environment. The analysis of costs and benefits of pollution control shows the advantages of production planning, which means the use of inorganic substances and waste disposal.
