Sažetak
The Croatian Public Health Association was founded in 1974 as a Section of Croatian Medical Association. Since it is organized as a Croatain Public Health Society (CPHS). The 1999 General assembly nominated the working group with the aim to analyze profesional status , job performance and members interests in further development of the public health. The questionare was sent to all 50 members . Until June 2000, questioners were returned (62 percent). The majority of members who ansvered are medical doctors ( 29), 1 stomatologist. 13 of them are specialists in social medicine, 4 in epidemiology , 3 in general practice. Two of them are in training and 2 are withouth specialization. 21 of them have MPH degree and 11 even an PhD. The routina jobs of the CPHSs members aere in the fields of health satistics, Health education, Health information system, Helath policy, Planing, Health care programing, Quality improvment, Researchm Education and Counseling. 21 out of 31 have computers at their working place. The topics they poroposed for continuing education in the profession of public health are many, like Indicators and data analyisis, Managment and organization, Helath aducation, Qulaity of health care, New technologies, Curriculum development, Health ecology. This relatively small speciality and association leads an intensive profesional life trying to continue the tradition of public helath since Stampars time during the twenties.
