Sažetak
Synchronous generator as a power generation unit represents the most important part of the power system. Due to its significance and characteristics, majority of the anomalies that occurs in the power system are reflected to the synchronous generator itself. Thus, the short circuits on the transmission lines or transformer stations that occur near the power plant can be observed on synchronous generator as well. This situation is very clearly illustrated in one real situation. In thermal power plant Plomin 2, an end-winding vibration monitoring system was installed. It also has possibility to monitor all relevant electrical physical quantities, temperatures, air gap magnetic flux densities and grid voltage. Monitoring system is also capable to capture and log all transients that occur in the synchronous generator. Thus, this approach also allows capturing and logging of the other anomalies in power system which can be analyzed afterwards.
