Sažetak
In the context of Croatias flood retention programme for the Sava River and the Environmental Assessment that was conducted during project preparation, the World Bank has asked the FAO Investment Centre to organize a study on economic opportunities for the population in the flood retention areas of the river Sava between Zagreb, Karlovac, Sisak, Kutina and Gradiska. The objective of this study is to identify ways in which nature conservation and income generation can be integrated and mutually enhancing.
This study aims at providing the Croatian authorities and stakeholders with ideas on how the traditional pasture and meadows management can be adopted and maintained under the changing economic conditions for farmers in Europe. The study will pay particular attention to the outstanding ecological importance of the grassland areas. The study was be undertaken by two national consultants and one international consultant
