Sažetak
Croatian public libraries started developing special children’s departments in 50-ties of the last century. Each decade form 50-ties on has brought some significant improvements, from inclusion of services for babies, toddlers and parents in libraries to giving a special attention to services for teens and young adults. Children’s libraries are perceived as a local meeting places for a whole family and their role is primarily in reading promotion and wide range of activities in children’s leisure time. But there exist a differences in the development of services for children, both in terms of specific activities and in terms of the context in which libraries operate. The presentation is focused on overview of current trends and gives some examples of good practice.
