Sažetak
A short techno-economical overview of the possibilities of constructing small hydro powerplants at 53 sites in the Republic of Croatia is presented in this paper. The usable water potential is estimated to 10 000 GWh/year, 10 % of which accounts for the potential of small hydro powerplants ranging from 3.1 to a few thousand kW output capacity. The prospective locations range from the state border with the Republic of Slovenia to the town of Dubrovnik at the south. All the equipment shall be of a standard design and the powerhouses shall be reduced to a technical minimum. The project of constructing small hydro powerplants in the Republic of Croatia is supported by the Government and widely approved by the public opinion. The investment is feasible and, according to the law regulations, foreign investors have also possibility to invest.
