Sažetak
The article explores the meaning of the "peaceful purposes" principle, set out in the 1967 Outer Space Treaty. It is discussed whether "peaceful" in that context means "non-military" or "non-aggressive". Resolving this dilemma answers an important question of the possibility of the use of space for military purposes. It is also discussed whether undertaking self-defense in space, with special reference to undertaking self-defense in case of cyber attacks, would violate the "peaceful purposes" principle.
