Sažetak
The Zakučac hydroelectric power plant is the biggest Croatian power plant with installed power of 486 MW and average share in total annual production of Croatian hydroelectric power plants of 40%. Revitalisation of the power plant is now under way, and international invitation for bids is going to be announced soon. The power plant has four production units, built in two stages. All turbines are Francis turbines of vertical design. Older turbines T1 and T2 were produced by Voith, turbines T3 and T4 were produced by Litostroj, Slovenia, whereas generators were produced by Rade Končar, Croatia. Replacement of all turbines and two first stage generators is anticipated, however, without reconstructing the plant architecture. Revitalisation is performed in a number of steps, such as: situation survey of the existing equipment, implementation of preliminary design, engineering and economic feasibility study, comparative testing, etc. Since useful life of particular parts of the power plant has expired, the basic reason for the revitalisation of the Zakučac power plant is the idea of providing its further reliable operation, since delay might lead to a great risk. Besides providing further reliable operation of the power plant, the anticipated revitalisation also provides a possibility of increasing power and production in relation to the present state. Revitalisation envisages the increase of installed plant power of 51.46 MW, by increasing the installed power plant flow from 220m3/s to 240 m3/s and increasing the rated speeds of production units 1 and 2 from 300 min-1 to 333.3 min-1. Revitalisation anticipates the increase in efficiency of production units, particularly efficiency of turbines, as well as solution to the problem of inlet cavitation on turbines T3 and T4. The fact that revitalisation of production units must be performed without interrupting the power plant operation is of particular importance. This means that three out of four existing production units must be permanently available to the electric power plant system.
