Sažetak
Weeds are the most significant limiting factor in maize production. Amaranthus retroflexus L. is an annual broadleaved weed distributed throughout the world in row crops. Weed control in maize is done by applying herbicides on nearly all production areas. One of the newer herbicides for roadleaved and grass control in maize is topramezone. Topramezone is a 4-hydroxyphenil piruvate dioxigenase inhibitor The objective of the study was to investigate the impact of adjuvants COC, MSO and NIS alone and in combinations with nitrogen fertilizers AMS and UAN on activity of herbicide topramezone applied in six rates (0 ; 8, 25 ; 16, 5 ; 33 ; 66 ; 132 g a.i. ha-1) on reduction of Amaranthus retroflexus dry matter. Amaranthus retroflexus plants were grown under controlled conditions (duration and intensity of light, relative humidity, water). Application of topramezone and adjuvants was done when Amaranthus retroflexus plants were in growth stage of 4-6 leaves. Three weeks after herbicide application plants were cut off and dried until the constant biomass. The significant differences occurred for interaction of topramezone rate x adjuvant. The highest rate of topramezone needed for 90% reduction of Amaranthus retroflexus plants dry matter (GR90 values) were obtained in treatments where topramezone was applied without adjuvants (369, 86 g a.i. ha-1). Adjuvants strongly reduced GR90 rate of topramezone. The GR90 rates lower then 1/8 (8, 25 g a.i. ha-1) of recommended topramezone rate (66 g a.i. ha-1) were obtained with adjuvants COC, COC+UAN, COC+AMS, MSO, MSO+UAN, MSO+AMS, NIS, NIS+UAN, NIS+AMS and AMS.
