Sažetak
Aim. The aim of the study was to see if there are possible systemic antimycotic-psychiatric drug interactions. Methods. The data base on dispension of fluconazole, itraconazole, and terbinafine during the period of three years (2009-2011) in a town pharmacy of Karlovac was searched. Possible interactions of different drug combinations were checked on the web sites www.drugs.com and www.pubmed.com. Results. During the period of three years, 321 patients used one of the antimycotics. Of these 321 subjects, 58 were taking, at the same time, one or more of the psychotropic drugs. 14 patients were taking antidepressants, 42 were taking anxiolytics, 8 hypnotics, 2 antipsychotics and one was taking a drug used for the treatment of opioid addiction. the most important antimycotic - psychotropic drug interaction are itraconazole - alprazolam and fluconazole - alprazolam interaction and 4% of the sample was taking this combination, and thus had the possiblity of this major interaction. Conclusions. A significant minority of patients who use oral antimycotics are taking psychotropic trugs at the same time. Some of them could have possible clinically significant interactions of some systemic antimycotics with anxiolytics (primarily alprazolam).
