Sažetak
The objective of the analysis is to compare efficiency of the high-tech industry in 2009, i.e. in the period of four years (2006-2009) for the ten selected European countries. The subject of analysis in the paper is efficiency of the pharmaceutical industry of the selected countries through implementation of the DEA method. Special emphasis was placed on R&D activity of the pharmaceutical industry as one of the potential factors of export competitiveness. The main hypothesis of the research implies that it is possible to assess efficiency of the pharmaceutical industry of the selected countries. By implementation of the CCR window analysis, of averages through a presentation of average efficiency variations, relevant insights are obtained on efficiency and export competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry in the selected European countries on the basis of which research conclusions and proposals are made. The main research results include facts concerning measuring and assessing efficiency of the pharmaceutical industry of the selected European countries as well as recommendations and proposals in order to improve the efficiency, but also to achieve better results on foreign markets. The basic conclusion of the research is reflected in the necessity to create preconditions and define measures for improved efficiency of the pharmaceutical industry in the selected European countries.
