Sažetak
Transport processes in cementitious materials play a crucial role in both the degradation process of building materials as well as in the containment of hazardous wastes. It is known that modeling of the ionic diffusion through cementitious materials by a plain (unmodified) Fick’s law is inappropriate and requires a different approach. In this paper a numerical platform called MultIDiff (Multi‐ionic Diffusion) is presented for solving a complex system of nonlinear Nernst‐Planck equations for the diffusion of ions through cementitious materials that considers electrical coupling between several diffusive ions. Novelty of the MultIDiff approach is in its advanced numerical implementation employing Matlab’s built‐in solvers. The MultIDiff is dedicated to predict concentration profiles and fluxes for each ion and the resulting potential distribution through the cementitious material, and provides a good convergence rate. Furthermore, it is robust enough to handle non‐linearity and the couplings of the equations, and resents a more reliable way to obtain long term durability predictions of cementitious materials.
