Sažetak
Stratigraphy of Adriatic tertiary is illustrated in several phases: a) pre-phase comprises deposition of Mesozoic platform carbonates, and was aborted by uplift and emersion in the area of coastal Dinarides and local deposition of bauxites, b) Tertiary carbonate platform phase is characterized by depostion of platform carbonates which started diachronously above carstified Mesozoic basement, c) “transitional” phase which is characterized by deposition of Transitional beds which document regional deepening of depositional environemnt, d) flysch phase was attributed to deposition of basinal clastics, which also started diachronously along the Adriatic belt, and e) molasse phase which represents deposition of coarse alluvial fans and fan deltas which extend from the Mosor Mt. and interfinger with turbidites and some megabeds. Debris composition corresponds to that of External Dinarides. The age of flysch is reinterpreted, so the youngest sediments were deposited in Miocene. Tertiary volcanics are exposed only locally, and have Miocene age attributed. Miocene pyroclastics are also recognized in Dalmatian, and their source could be in Bosnia, whereas the sourca of Quaternary volcaniclastics is attributed to Italian volcanoes. Adriatic flysch basins are interpreted as a group of smaller basins which were separated by shallower areas, even emergent land. Tectonic deformation of some conglomerate beds suggests that the compressional deformation and folding took place in Miocene.
