Sažetak
This study reports on formation of borides on C15 carbon steel. Pack boronizing has been carried out in temperature range 870 – 970 °C with durations 4 – 8 h. Through use of linear method average thicknesses of boride layers are determined as well as volume share of boride phase concerning cross section of the layer. Average thickness of boride layers ranges from 69, 9 to 239, 2 µm. Through application of statistical methods, the influence of temperature and duration of boronizing is analysed with respect to average thickness of boride layer, thickness of the compact part of layer and its tootheness. Also analysed is the change of volume share of boride phase concerning cross section of the layer. Analysis showed existence of influence of mentioned factors upon observed properties of boride layer, and as a result, mathematical models showing their functional correlation have been obtained.
