Sažetak
The paper focuses on two basic concepts: human sexuality and cinema. The aim is to discover the hidden social structures and unwritten rules that govern human sexuality on film screens. The first part of the paper focuses on the theoretical background and tries to explain the historical facts about sexuality and its divisions, the differences between homosexuality and heterosexuality, the role of gender in sexuality, what does the term queer mean, when did it appear, why and what does it signify, prejudices and stereotypes rooted in homophobia and heterosexism, different sexuality theories, such as Queer theories, Essentialism, Constructivism and so on. The second part describes the historical development of cinema, with a special emphasis on the more specific phases which are important for this research, such as the Classical Hollywood cinema, Independent cinema, Queer film and some related terms such as Oedipal trajectory, censorship, spectator-identification etc. The final part combines the first two parts: sexuality and film, through the analysis of three different films: Deep Throat (1972), Go Fish (1994) and Brokeback Mountain (2005).
