Sažetak
The paper surveys the history of African-American population in the Americas, the development of slavery, Ku Klux Klan and the Jim Crow laws. After elaborating the role of African-Americans during two world wars, the paper focuses on the Civil Rights Movement and the most important events in the fight for equality, such as the Brown v. Board of Education class action, the desegragation struggle, bus boycotts and sit-ins. The leading figures of the movement, Martin Luther King Jr. And Malcolm X, are the topic of the final part of the paper.
