Sažetak
The paper will analyse the area of the future highway Karlovac-Delnice-Rijeka in the section Kupjak-Vrbovsko where two tunnels are planned, "Javorova Kosa" and "Pod Vugleš". Their combined length is 2,3 km. This area is the section with the highest elevation above sea level on the entire highway. The terrain rockmass is made of clasticsediments-shales and laminar clastites. The "RMR" and "Q" classification approaches are used. Due to the non-existence of certain parts of the rockmass after the influence of rains, the "geodurability" classification for HSSR (hard soils-soft rocks)rockmass types is applied. The performed classification steps have enabled the selection of representative geotechnical properties for the appropriate category of rockmass.
