Sažetak
Knjiga Dubrovnik – Centar iza Grada: Studija urbane preobrazbe objedinjuje četiri istraživanja kojima je predmet interesa bilo proučavanje mogućnosti urbane transformacije lokaliteta Iza Grada, smještenog u središnjem, sjevernom dijelu prostora uza zidine povijesne gradske jezgre Dubrovnika. Istraživanje u sklopu urbanističke radionice koju je organizirao Grad Dubrovnik provedeno je s ciljem propitivanja stručne i opće javnosti na koji se način može osigurati ostvarivanje javnog interesa aktiviranjem predjela Iza Grada i njegovom preo¬brazbom u Centar iza Grada. Provedbom međunarodnog natječaja u sklopu programa EUROPAN 11 Centar iza Grada pedeset dva su natjecatelja iz različitih dijelova Europe predlagala inovativna urbanističko– arhitektonska rješenja za ustroj novoga modela sklopa gradskog centra koji može dati podjednako kvalitetne odgovore i rješenja kako na kontekstualne tako i na funkcionalne probleme zahtjevne lokacije. U sklopu međunarodne urbanističke radionice „Urbana transformacija fose uza zidine“, koja je organizirana u Dubrovniku uz sudjelovanje studenata i nastavnika s Arhitektonskih fakulteta iz Zagreba i Barcelone, proširene su teme i razmišljanja s lokaliteta Iza Grada na cjelokupno područje oko gradskih zidina, kao i na kontaktno područje između povijesne gradske jezgre i gradskih predjela koji ga okružuju. Time su otvoreni novi aspekti sagledavanja međuodnosa gradskog centra i grada. Na Radionici urbanizma – vježbovnom kolegiju diplomskog studija Arhitektonskog fakulteta u Zagrebu, problematika Centra iza grada sagledavana je u još širim okvirima proučavanjem mogućnosti unapređenja organizacije cjelokupne urbane aglomeracije afirmacijom novih žarišta razvoja i uz proučavanje mogućnosti uspostave sustava Centra oko grada kao modela kojim će se osigurati raspršivanje pritiska na prekapacitiranu povijesnu gradsku jezgru. Objedinjavanjem i sintezom rezultata svih provedenih istraživanja dobivena je slojevita i sveobuhvatna slika o obilježjima transformacije grada Dubrovnika i njegova Centra iza Grada, koja je prevedena u smjernice i zaključke o primjerenim oblicima urbane preobrazbe grada. *** The book Dubrovnik – Centre behind the City: Urban Transformation Study presents four research projects which explored the possibility of urban transformation of the area called Behind the City located outside the walls, along the central, northern section of the historical centre of Dubrovnik. The research conducted within the urban planning workshop organized by the City of Dubrovnik was aimed at investigating the opinions of professionals and the general public about the ways in which public interest can be ensured by the activation of the Behind the City area and its transformation into the Centre Behind the City. The international competition within the EUROPAN 11 Centre behind the City 52 programme included applicants from various parts of Europe who proposed innovative urban and architectural solutions for a new model of the urban area which can provide sound solutions to both contextual and functional problems of this challenging location. The international urban planning workshop «Urban Transformation of the Trench along the Walls» was organized in Dubrovnik and included students and professors from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb and Barcelona. The primary focus of the workshop placed on the Behind the City area was broadened to include the entire area around the city walls as well as to the contact zone between the historical city centre and the surrounding areas. Such a widened scope of interest gave way to new aspects of looking at the mutual relationship between the city and its centre. In the Urban Planning Studio, a practical course in the graduate programme of the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, the problem of the Centre behind the City was approached even through a much broader perspective which included considerations of possible improvements in the organisation of the entire urban agglomeration by emphasising the importance of new focal points of development. Considered was also the possibility of establishing the system of Centre around the city as a model which might ensure diffusion of the pressure upon the excessively used and frequented historical centre. A synthesis of the results of the conducted research gave an integral but layered view on the transformation characteristics of Dubrovnik and its Centre behind the City, and was consequently turned into guidelines and conclusions on the suitable forms of urban transformation of the city.
