Sažetak
The article considers the possibility of linking the actors and jesters from the past with today's actors and tourists. Reference is made to the origins of the Croatian art of acting in Dubrovnik, i.e., the Republic of Dubrovnik - the birthplace of the Croatian word for actor (glumac). The intertwining roles of actors from Dubrovnik with those of visiting actors coming to Town at the invitation of the organisers of theatric events are presented. The article analyses how events organised and performances played by court fools defined in a specific way the map of the culture of acting in the City-theatre, crossing into the territory of visiting and travelling actors and actor troupes. It shows how festivities of court jesters are drawn into the mise en scène of theatrical feasts and celebrations, especially in the theatralisation of Marin Držić’s reality and in the chronotope of Vidra’s creation (Vidra meaning weasel and known as Držić’s nickname). Mapped are the passings of actors-hosts and actors-tourists in the area of contemporary Dubrovnik and shown are the branding capacities of Croatian specificities through actors and acting as well as the connections between acting troupes and tourist groups. Folklore and ethno-identity in popular and elitist cultural events, especially at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, are interpreted in the context of (de)globalisation of the art of acting.
