Sažetak
The liberalization of services in rail transport markets requires from railway undertakings active participation in creating supply. In such conditions, business of freight railway undertakings has been forced to offer competitive transport services. One of leading element of demand for freight transport services is the price, and it is not directly influence by railway undertakings. Therefore, the railway undertakings must superbly manage with costs. Of course, the costs management is associated with model calculations of the transport cost. One possible approach is bottom down modelling method of calculating the cost of transportation services. So, we have moved from total operating costs of railway undertakings that were are reduced to the cost of the train. The paper presents the bottom down cost calculation model for trains in HŽ Cargo d.o.o.
