Sažetak
The ships mains usually consist of three or more diesel generating sets. Thus, the ship's mains power is fairly limited and any sudden change of both active and reactive load results in significat dynamic changes of the ship's mains frequency and voltage. Starting the induction motor with decreased voltage can be made by decreasing the generator voltage during starting and then the decrease of starting current is obtained through controlled excitation. The simplest procedure of starting the induction motors is by weakening the compound generator excitation. The best results of current limiting are obtained with controlled excitation of the generator using an independent excitation system with current feedback
